2 books worth reading

January 11, 2011

For anyone concerned about paying for college:

Debt – Free U : by Zac Bissonnette – 2010 (paperback)
Zac wrote this as a 21 year old U Mass student about putting himself through college and graduating debt free. He writes for numerous financial publications and the information is very readable and eye opening. Even if your child does not plan to go the public college route, it contains a lot of good information that is beneficial regarding finances during the college years. Might be worth buying or getting on a wait list at the library.

For anyone with attention deficit disorder or tendencies (students or adults):

Delivered from Distraction – Getting the Most out of Life with Attention Deficit Disorder by Dr. Edward Hallowell and Dr. John Ratey –  2005
This is also a very readable book and helpful for those with ADD or some tendencies. There is a chapter on the college experience and the whole book is practical and optimistic.

These doctors are also local – The Hallowell Center is in Sudbury, Ma.
